This revolutionary combination of UV-C electrolysis and copper means you can have a chlorine-free pool! Using this Blue Lagoon UV-C ionizer forming part of the pool system, you can keep the pool water fresh, crystal clear, and above all hygienically clean, without having to add chlorine or other chemicals. With the Blue Lagoon UV-C ionizer the need to test pool water is only once every two weeks. And you’ll get by with a simple indicator strip, which is supplied with the ionizer. And if necessary, simply set the unit to the correct value

Ultraviolet disinfection is among technologies that are increasingly used recently to improve the quality of drinking water and pool water treatment technologies. The principle of disinfection lies in photochemical damage to RNA and DNA, proteins, enzymes or other biologically significant macromolecules.

The effectiveness of disinfection depends on the UV dose, the type of UV lamp used and their arrangement relative to the flow of drinking or pool water. For the proper selection of a suitable UV device it is necessary to determine and guarantee the required UV dose, dependent on the flow and water quality in terms of its transmittance, i.e. the concentration and type of dissolved and undissolved substances that influence the reflection or absorption of UV radiation.

Low-pressure monochromatic UV lamps emit UV radiation at a wavelength of 254 nm, the intensity of emitted UV energy is only at one level and is strongly dependent on the temperature of the treated water and the flow rate. As a result, this type of low-pressure UV lamp has only germicidal effects.

The possibility of combining UV radiation with other treatment technologies leads to achieving high water quality. The advantage is a reduction of operating demands, i.e. savings on dosed chemicals and safe and easy operation in automatic mode. The disadvantage is the possibility of secondary contamination, thus UV radiation itself is not suitable for hygienic security. In practice it is therefore combined, e.g., with chlorination.
